Religious Education 2022-2023

Welcome to St. Mary Parish, A Eucharistic Community.  I am thrilled to share with you the registration details for this year’s Religious Education Program.  A class calendar will be shared following registration.

Children in grades K-8 will participate in the liturgy-based Pflaum Gospel Weeklies.  “Each lesson in the Weeklies Faith Formation Program flows from the words of Jesus Christ in the Sunday Gospels.  Children learn their faith – including formation in doctrine, sacraments, commandments, and prayer – within the rhythms and seasons of the Liturgical Year, encouraging a growing participation in the life of the parish community.”  (Pflaum)

Confirmation preparation is a 2-year Church and family-based experience.

  • Decisions 1 is designed for youth in grade 9, 10, or 11 for their 1st year of preparation.
  • Decisions 2 is designed for youth in grade 10, 11, or 12 for their 2nd year of preparation.
  • *A student attending a Catholic High School is only required to participate in Decisions 2 in grade 10, 11 or 12.

In addition to RE registration, candidates in Decisions 1, 2 must complete a Decisions Enrollment Form and attend a Parent/Candidate Enrollment Meeting.

All families will be encouraged to enliven their participation in Sunday worship and to be reacquainted with their Baptismal call to continue the work of the risen Lord through the power of the Holy Spirit.

St. Mary’s Church-based Religious Education (RE) begins with our Fall Festival on September 18, 2022.  Please come and enjoy the event and learn more about your child’s classes this year.  Go to our website to get more information on the festival.

Many volunteers have committed to leading a class, but more are still needed.  Each class has a maximum number of students, so if there are more students than teachers available, then some students will not be assigned to a class until a volunteer has come forward to lead a class.  Will you please consider sharing your time with the young people of our parish? Click HERE to volunteer as a teacher, admin assist, or other. Parent teachers receive a discount on registration fees.

I am looking forward to assisting, sharing and celebrating with you this coming year. Let us give thanks to the Lord for He is good.

Peace Be with You,

Colleen C. DeBruyckere
