Christ is Risen!
This proclamation refers to the resurrection of our Lord. Notice the present tense in this simple expression. We are not proclaiming in the past tense, but in the present tense. He is risen now; He is alive now!
Christ our Lord is available to us and transforming souls now. In the Eucharist and during the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass he loves us in a very real presence. We are part of the Mystical Body of the Church. Bodies are real and alive. This is the joy of Easter that we celebrate. Celebrating the Resurrection is the fullness of our faith. Our faith leads us to a life with this person we know as Jesus Christ. Consider the person of Christ. We believe in a person, not simply the teachings of a person. We believe in the Teacher himself. His identity and authority are real and present to us now.
Easter is a time for us to enter more fully in this mystical life with Christ. This reminds me of the awesome life I encountered during Lent at Saint Mary Parish. The Disciples in Action collected great amounts of food donations that will help restock depleted food pantries. Faith formation groups met in various venues. Many folks returned to Mass and altar servers are back in action. We have much to be grateful for as we live out our lives in the Mystical Body of Christ.
