Liturgy & Worship
Ministry
Adult Choir
Adults who have been blessed with the gift of a musical voice are encouraged
to share their gift with the parish family by joining the Adult Choir. This
Choir sings a combination of traditional and contemporary music with organ and
instruments at the 10 AM Mass on Sunday as well as at major feasts throughout
the year such as Christmas, Holy Week and Easter. Rehearsals are held on Sunday at 9 a.m.
Altar Guild
The Altar Guild is responsible for taking care of the altar linens, cleaning
the altar once a week, and ensuring that the sacred vessels are prepared for
Mass.
Altar Servers
The Altar Servers assist the priest at Mass by preparing the altar, carrying
the cross and holding the book. This is open to boys and girls from 3rd grade -
high school. Adult volunteers are also needed to serve at funerals. Training
takes place throughout the year.
Art & Environment Committee
This committee is responsible for decorating the worship space in our church
to correspond with the liturgical seasons. Artists, sewers, builders and other
"crafty" and "handy" parishioners are greatly appreciated as we strive to create
a liturgically appropriate worship environment for our parish family. The
Committee meets as needed.
Baptismal Robe Makers
A small group of ladies have traditionally made white baptismal garments for
the children baptized at the parish. These are presented as a sign of love and
welcome to the newly baptized.
Children's Liturgy of the Word
During the Liturgy of the Word, children process out of the sanctuary to
hear an age-appropriate proclamation of the Scriptures and to participate in an
interactive homily. A team of adults lead this fun exploration of God's Word.
The children return to Mass at the offertory to bring the gifts forward. Adult
volunteers are welcomed.
Eucharistic Ministers
Eucharistic Ministers are entrusted with the special responsibility of
assisting in the distribution of the Body and Blood of Christ at Mass.
Festival Children's Choir
On Christmas and Easter our Children provide chorale music to brighten the
holidays. The choir is open to children grades 3 - 7. Before both
performances, four practice sessions are held on Sunday evenings from 6:30 to
7:00 pm.
Greeters
The Greeters create a welcoming environment for our liturgies by greeting
people they know and welcoming visitors coming to worship with our parish
family. The ministry is open to men, women and families.
Instrumentalists
String players, woodwind players, brass players are encouraged to enhance
our weekend liturgies by sharing their musical gifts with our parish family.
Lectors/Readers
Our parish lectors proclaim the Word of God at Mass during the Liturgy of
the Word. The only requirements are an ability to read and a willingness to
proclaim the Word to the congregation. Training sessions are held as needed.
Spiritual Life & Worship Commission
This Commission is made up of representatives from each lay ministry that is
involved in our weekly worship (i.e. Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors, Altar
Guild, Art and Environment Committee and Altar Servers). They meet on the 3rd
Thursday of every month.
Ushers
Ushers are responsible for taking up the offertory collection during Mass on
Sunday as well as passing out bulletins and inserts. This ministry is open to
men, women and families.
Wedding Rehearsal Teams
This team of parishioners is responsible for leading the rehearsals for
weddings in our church. They coordinate the variety of roles and
responsibilities of the wedding party during the liturgy. Most rehearsals are
held on Thursday or Friday nights between 6:00 and 7:30 p.m.
