Late in July I was diagnosed with a serious and chronic medical condition. In August, for the first time in my life, I received the Sacrament of the Sick. The condition is not life threatening, but it does require significant treatment and care. My hope and intention was to continue to lead our parish family while I received care, but at the urging of my health care providers, instead I will be entering a period of health leave. I am confident that healing will come.
Therefore, next week, my ministry to the St. Mary Parish Family will conclude. We will let you know, as soon as we know about the plans for the next administrator of our parish.
I am grateful for many blessings over the past five months. There is so much life and beauty in our parish. I am especially grateful to our parish staff who have endured so much since the time Fr. Dick Messina became ill. They are extremely dedicated, hardworking and faithful. It has been a great honor to serve with them. They inspire me in so many ways.
One prayer I pray often is for all those for whom I have served in priestly ministry. I promise you my prayers for each and every member of our parish and school family. In your kindness, please pray for strength, courage and healing for our parish, and I would be grateful if you would offer the same prayer and graces for me. The Lord has been our strength in our parish for 143 years and in our school for 105 years. He will take care of us. He always has. He always will. We also pray for the intercession and inspiration of Our Blessed Mother: St. Mary, pray for us.
